Agriculture: Romsilva plants about 2 million trees in autumn afforestation campaign
Romsilva, the National Forest Department is planting about two million trees in the autumn afforestation campaign, regenerating 2,697 ha of forest fund, of which 1,548 ha through natural regenerations and 1,149 ha through artificial regeneration, that is through afforestation works, the department announced on Wednesday.
According to the source, this year's regeneration program of state forests administered by Romsilva includes works on 12,670 ha of forest fund, of which natural regeneration for 8,037 ha and artificial regeneration , through afforestation works on 4,633 ha of forest fund.
Department representatives mention that, during the spring campaign, regeneration works were carried out on 10.420 ha of forest fund administered by Romsilva, of which 6,846 ha were regenerated naturally and 3,574 artificially.
“Also during the spring afforestation campaign, there were completion works on 1,582 ha and works recovering plantations on 215 ha. In total, during the spring afforestation campaign 21,875,000 trees were planted,”the press release shows.
In the last 5 years, Romsilva has regenerated 75,401 ha of forest fund state public property, of which 48,163 ha regenerated naturally and 27,238 ha through afforestation works, planting 151.66 million trees.
Romsilva administers 3.13 million ha of state property forests, about 48% of the country's forests, and ensures services for 1 million ha of forests in other forms of property. 80% of forests owned by the state have certificates of forest management at international standards.
