Jan-Apr energy output falls 4.1% y/y
Romania's energy output edged down by an annual 4.1% in January-April, the statistical office, INS, said on Wednesday.Romania's January-April energy production totalled 6 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE), INS said in a statement. Imports amounted to 4.664 million TOE, down 5.7% on the year.
Romania's electricity output and imports totalled 22.1 TWh in January-April, down 4.8% on the year.
In the first four months of the year, thermal power plants generated some 6.98 TWh of electricity, down 9.7% on the year, while the output of hydroelectric power stations fell 23.8% to 6.98 TWh.
The production of the country's sole nuclear power plant rose 3.5% on the year to some 4.026 TWh in January-April.
Wind farms generated 3.26 TWh, up by 33.6%, and solar plants produced 0.52 TWh, 13.2% higher on the year, in the first four months of the year.
January-April final electricity consumption fell by an annual 4.2% to 18.2 TWh.
The country's electricity exports fell by 6.5% to 2.02 TWh in January-April, while imports rose 3.1% on the year to 2.66 TWh.
The country produced 973,500 TOE of crude oil, down 6% on the year, and 939,700 TOE of coal, down 2.6% on the year, in the first four months of 2022. Natural gas production decreased 6.1% year-on-year, reaching 2.37 million TOE.
Romania's energy production rose 1.7% year-on-year to 18.47 million TOE in 2021.
A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
