Energy production in photovoltaic solar power plants up 60.5% in first eight months
Energy production in photovoltaic solar power plants amounted to 2.57 billion kWh in the first eight months of this year, up 60.5% compared to the same period last year, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Monday.
The figures for solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations include prosumers.
On the other hand, output from wind power plants totaled 4.10 billion kWh, down 16.9% (835.9 million kWh) compared to the January-August 2023 period.
Production from hydropower plants amounted to 10.59 billion kWh, down 24.7% (3.48 billion kWh), and production from nuclear power plants amounted to 7 billion kWh, dropping 4.2% (308.1 million kWh).
Production from thermal power stations amounted to 11.37 billion kWh, up 1.1% (127.8 million kWh).
In the first eight months of the year, domestic energy production amounted to 11.33 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), down 644,700 toe (-5.4%) compared to the same period last year, while imports amounted to 10.02 million toe, up 85,200 toe (+0.9%).
Primary energy resources diminished 2.6% to 21.35 million toe and electricity resources decreased 0.9% to 43.99 billion kWh.
Final electricity consumption in this period was 33.56 billion kWh, 1.4% higher than in the first eight months of 2023. Final electricity consumption in the economy increased 1.1%, population consumption increased 2.9% and public lighting decreased 3.4%.
Own technological consumption in grids and stations amounted to 3.26 billion kWh, down 134.1 million kWh.
Electricity exports amounted to 7.17 billion kWh, down 9.2% (725.8 million kWh).
