ANRE: By 2030 we can bring between 10.000 and 12.000 MW of new capacities into the national energy system

TMK Hydroenergy Power has started work on the new hydroelectric power plant in Caras-Severin County, funded under the Energy Programme in Romania, through EEA and Norwegian financial mechanisms, 2014-2021, that will secure the production of approximately 2,500 MWh per year of green energy.

According to CEZ Romania, the implementation of the project takes place between September 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022 and involves an own investment of almost 700,000 euros. For that, CEZ accessed and received financial grants of approximately 44.7% (300,000 euros) of the total value of the investment.

The new hydropower plant will secure 2,500 MWh per year of green energy that will be added to the production of the hydropower system in Caras-Severin of approximately 80,417 GWh per year.

The investment aims for annual reduction of CO2 emissions (measured in tonnes of CO2eq./year): 770 tonnes of CO2 equivalent/year; creating a new job; energy produced from hydropower sources (in MWh / year): 2,453 MWh/year; a new hydropower plant; installed capacity for hydropower production (in MW): 0.367 MW.

Green energy producer TMK Hydroenergy Power continues its investments in the Caras-Severin hydropower system in order to contribute to the well-being of the local community in which it operates, and also to support Romania to achieve its green energy targets.

On March 31, 2021, TMK Hydroenergy Power and other CEZ Group companies in Romania were acquired by funds managed by Macquarie Infrastructures and Real Assets (MIRA), part of the Macquarie Group in Australia.

In December 2010, the CEZ Group in Romania acquired 100% of the shares of the company that owned the hydropower system near Resita, consisting of 4 micro hydropower plants (Grebla, Crainicel 1, Crainicel 2 and Breazova) and the hydro facilities related to Timis, Gozna, Valiug and Secu, of a total installed capacity of approximately 22 MW after retooling and a production of about 70GWh / year.
