Soprano Angela Gheorghiu - in extraordinary performance in Oradea, on June 14, after 7 years without concerts in Romania

Soprano Angela Gheorghiu will perform, after seven years, an extraordinary concert in Romania, in Oradea, on June 14, on the first day of the Sounds of Oradea Festival (June 14 - 16), under the baton of conductor David Gimenez Carreras. She told a Wednesday's press conference that it is absolutely natural for Romanian artists to promote the music of the country where they received "education, life, love, tradition".

The program of famous arias and duets from operas will be performed, outdoors, together with the tenor Teodor Ilincai, the orchestra of the Oradea State Philharmonic, under the baton of conductor David Gimenez Carreras, who is also the director of this festival, reaching the edition of third.

"Maestro David Carreras and I have known each other for a lifetime. For many years we have had concerts together, on different occasions of the greatest, in splendid times in the world. It was very surprising to receive an invitation to my country, an invitation to which I receive very rarely and I haven't performed in Romania for seven years. Here it is!", declared soprano Angela Gheorghiu.

About the tenor Teodor Ilincai, the conductor David Gimenez Carreras mentioned that although he has not yet reached such a high level of popularity as that of the soprano Angela Gheorghiu, he is "a fantastic tenor, a very good concert partner, an excellent singer".

The tenor would like to specify that he does not even dream of the reputation of the artist Angela Gheorghiu, because "something like that cannot happen". "I can say that I feel proud to be Romanian, in general. But most of all I feel proud to be Romanian when I sing with Angela. Because she took the name of Romania everywhere," said the tenor.

The concert of soprano Angela Gheorgiu will take place on Friday, from 8:30 p.m.

The third edition of the Sounds of Oradea international festival will include two other exceptional shows on Saturday and Sunday.

The Prague Cello Quartet concert - a remarkable ensemble made up of four talented musicians, graduates of prestigious music academies, will be held on Saturday, also from 8:30 p.m., at the State Philharmonic, and will include unique interpretations of some classical pieces, but also soundtracks, jazz, rock and pop.

The Sofia National Opera will close the third edition of the Sounds of Oradea Festival, with a ballet show full of grace and emotion, supported by dancers appreciated in all corners of the world. The show takes place on June 16, from 8:30 p.m.

Sounds of Oradea Festival (SO Festival) is an event conceived and organized by Visit Oradea (Association for the Promotion of Tourism in Oradea and the Region) and Oradea City Hall.
